Training & Grades

Students build up kihon (basics), ido geiko (moving basics), kata, and kumite, and rise through the belts. Fees for kyu and dan promotion are standardized nationwide by resolution of the National Branch Chiefs' Meeting.

Hamai Group Training Camp

Held once a year, the training camp brings together members from branches across Japan and is one of the most important events of the Hamai Group. Over two days, participants take in the training practiced during the lifetime of Sosai Masutatsu Oyama, together with stories from that era, guided by Shihan Satoshi Yui (6th Dan, Supreme Advisor).

What Is Authentic Kyokushin?

Practical, direct-contact striking in which bouts are decided by landing blows. And the bearing of a martial art that begins and ends with courtesy. More than flashy techniques, what we value above all is the unbroken repetition of the basics: punches, kicks, and blocks.

Training content and times vary by dojo. For details, please contact the individual branches and dojos.
